Daisy is the closest friend of the Troilo family.

The young boy’s best friend and protector is Daisy. She is a 2-year-old Rottweiler pup who joined his family two years ago. She has an unusual nightly routine. Most dogs enjoy eating meals or playing with toys, but Daisy’s favorite part of the day is snuggling up next to her human brother to sleep. She has been inseparable from him since she joined the family as a young puppy.

According to Daisy’s mom, Brittany Troilo, the Rottweiler pup sleeps beside her brother every night and loves being around him constantly. Daisy and her brother enjoy playing together during the day. But when the clock says it is 8:30 p.m., Daisy knows it is time for her special bedtime routine. She first waits by the stairs. As soon as her brother’s bedtime routine starts, she jumps on the bed and snuggles up to him.

Since then, she has been aware of his medical condition and monitors him by waking Troilo up if his sugar levels are off. She is even aware of the medical equipment on her brother’s body and knows not to touch the Dexcom glucose tracker he uses at night. Daisy’s intelligence and awareness have proven invaluable in keeping her brother safe.
